You Need a Vacation … a SNOWMASS Vacation Contest
Contestants vie for a Snowmass vacation for two including airfare, 4 nights lodging, an adventure activity & spending money
SNOWMASS VILLAGE, CO, July 6, 2009 – Just how badly do people need a vacation these days and can it be explained in a minute or less? Snowmass, a popular mountain ski resort town in Colorado, is about to find out through its’ You Need a Vacation, a SNOWMASS Vacation! YouTube video contest. Contestants are asked to post a video on YouTube explaining, demonstrating or using any other creative means to show just how badly they need a summer vacation in Snowmass.
Why a summer vacation in a ski resort? Snowmass is well-known for world-class skiing, snowboarding and other winter adventures, yet there’s much more to this mountain town than just ripping up the slopes. Snowmass offers massive summer events and activities including 40 miles of scenic mountain trails for hiking and biking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, gold medal fly fishing, jeeping tours, food and wine festivals, free concerts and more. Snowmass is nestled in the heart of the Elk Mountains surrounded by seven of Colorado’s famous “14er’s,” just 9 miles from Aspen.
Those wanting to share why they deserve a Snowmass vacation – i.e., did they work too hard this year, does it suck to be them? – go to http://www.youtube.com/youneedavacationsv and submit a video of 10 seconds to one minute in length. All videos must be received between July 3 and August 31, 2009. The YouTube videos will be judged through a text messaging voting system. Visitors to the site can cast a vote by texting the number associated with their favorite video to a short code (one vote per mobile phone number). Votes will be tallied after August 3, and the winner of a Snowmass 2010 summer vacation will be announced on September 18.
“We’re anxious to see the contestant’s creativity,” said Susan Hamley, Director, Snowmass Tourism. “We wanted to make this fun, and in this day in age with so many involved in the social media scene, YouTube will make it easy for them to enter to win a fabulous retreat to the mountains.”
