BOWLING ALLEY BECOMES QITTLE’S NEWEST CLIENT

Ross Cottom Lanes using SMS marketing to expand bowling business

Aspen, CO (August 10th, 2009)— Ross Cottom Lanes is using Qittle’s SMS solutions to market and advertise as well as for informational purposes to existing customers. Doug Cottom of Ross Cottom Lanes in Harrisburg, IL has cut back on traditional areas of marketing such as print, radio and direct mail in order to focus more on SMS. The business has been in the family for 53 years and Cottom has recently begun spending much more time on text messaging because of how successful it has been for him thus far.

“We are able to reach a very targeted market with a couple of keystrokes for a fraction of the cost. Our return on investment is through the roof with this form of marketing.,” said Cottom.

Ross Cottom Lanes has built a special database of customers that receive last minute text messages about discounted rates on Fridays and Saturdays. He also has found it to be an easy way to communicate with league bowlers about league meetings and changes to the schedule. Cottom says the ability to connect with customers on slow nights or communicate with league bowlers about events and scheduling can reduce confusion and increase business. Customers can text RCLANES to 32075 to receive a discount on their current game or for future offers and specials. By opting in, they will initially save 20% on the first game.

Qittle helps businesses create, customize and manage a mobile marketing initiative. Launched on the dawn of a worldwide mobile reign, Qittle brings the message to the customer through the mobile phone-a device most customers don’t leave home without. Qittle is backed by the industry leader in secure mobile information management. Ross Cottom Lanes joins Qittle’s other numerous clients signing up for mobile marketing including MindBody Software, Snowmass Village, YNot Advertising, Grocio, ResortQuest, Joie de Vivre Hotels, High Tower Agency and The Aspen Club & Spa.

America’s New Elite, they are just like you and I

Pop Quiz: of the wealthiest 5% of the U.S population who own 60% of the U.S assets what percentage do you think inherited their money?

Answer: less than 10% inherited their money over 90% of the wealthy created it on their own.

That means that average Americans created huge amounts of wealth in their life time from their ideas, sweat and collaboration. Of course the idea of “You need Money to make Money” is true to some degree however the vast majority of folks boot strapped an idea and created their wealth which has enabled them to increase their wealth. Most started a business that became successful at which point they were in a position to invest in equities, real estate and other investments.

Dr. Jim Taylor, Doug Harrison and Stephen Kraus wrote the book “The New Elite, inside the minds of the truly wealthy” and that is where these facts have come from. I had the opportunity to listen to Jim speak on Friday and he points out some very interesting facts. These folks come from every day back grounds; they are you and I. Grew up with a public school education in communities all over the country. They pursued a passion, were determined and found success.

In order to reach this demographic and really any demographic stick to the 5 R’s

  1. Resourcefulness
  2. Reliability
  3. Respect
  4. Risk Management
  5. Reward

Traits of the wealthiest Americans, they are Bold. They like to be appreciated and amazed. They like privacy in plain sight. Their pursuit is happiness and they are able to say no in order to reach that goal. They like to be the boss. Facts are very important as the angel is in the details. Oh and no Whining, they did it as well. They made the sacrifices, gave up the job, gave up comfort to pursue their passion and now they get to reward themselves.

What an exciting time we live in, to have the ability to take an idea and pursue your passion to be rewarded with huge monetary gains and do it on your terms. I believe in the next 20 years we’ll see even more of the entrepreneur spirit as technology and Globalization changes the game even further.
